Climate change is one of the greatest threats faced by human beings. This dissertation examines the policies that can be used to alleviate the negative impacts of climate change through mitigation and adaptation. In the first chapter, the author studies the effectiveness of subsidies as an alternative to carbon taxes in reducing carbon emissions using a quantitative climate economy model. In the second chapter, the author develops a North-South Integrated Assessment Model (IAM) with agriculture and non-agriculture sectors, incorporating international trade, and proposes a price-adjusted integrated approach to assess the welfare impacts of climate change. The third chapter develops a stylized model that includes an agricultural sector and international trade to study the optimal strategy for using public investments to adapt to climate change in the agriculture sector.
