Construction began in 1066 in Romanesque style; later enlarged and built in Gothic and Renaissance (1570) styles. The church has a wooden vault over the nave. Listed as a historic monument in 1862. Falaise was the capital of the Duchy of Normandy during the reign of Robert the Magnificent and birthplace of William the Conqueror. Falaise was heavily damaged in WWII, but the church survived.
