There was a church dedicated to Saint Cyr and Sainte Julitte on this site from the 5th century. The present church is Romanesque, dating from the 11th century. Diane de Poitiers, on her return to Anet in 1560, commissioned the repair and embellishment of the church to Philibert de L'Orme, her architect for the chateau. De L'orme added Renaissance ornament. The work was slowed by Diane de Poitiers death in 1566; the vaults of the aisles are not finished until 1581. The bell-tower was finished in 1640 and the central vault was rebuilt in 1878.
