The first and former cathedral, still operating as a church. (The cathedral is now St. Front). Listed as an historic monument in 1840. There are Roman ruins in Perigueux and the church sits between the temple and arena. The church was begun in the 11th century with the west bay and ended in the 12th century with the choir. Initially it had a unique nave of three square bays, a flat chevet and two domes with cupolas . At its peak, it included four domes and a belfry before destruction. What remains are several bays of its early 12th-century choir with a flat east end vaulted with two domes on pendentives. The year 1907 saw the start of a major restoration campaign, led by architect Henry Rapine.
