The belfry (on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites) is an extension of the fa\u00E7ade. It towers above the rectangular brick Gothic hall, dating from the 14th century (begun 1280, originally a corn hall). During the First World War the tower was blown up and the hall, along with the entire city, almost completely destroyed. In 1921-1923 the hall and belfry were reconstructed to the historic form.
