Collegiate Church of Our Lady and St. Lawrence O'Toole: Interior, nave looking towards choir and altar, carved pew with caryatids

In the early eleventh century, the Counts of Eu founded a college (of the canons of St. Victor). In 1119, it became an abbey. In 1181, St. Lawrence O'Toole, Archbishop of Dublin died there and is buried in the crypt, along with other members of the nobility. The church was rebuilt in 1186 and dedicated to St. Lawrence. The various buildings of the abbey were completed in 1230. The church suffered fires in 1426 and 1475. The interior has a carved oval pew with caryatids (1731), by Adrian d' Abbeville the Younger. The rest of the abbey buildings were destroyed in the French Revolution.
