The central figure of Il Moro (The Moor) was designed by Bernini and executed by A. Mari, as part of Bernini's redesign of the fountain in 1653-1655 . The half-length figure of one of the Tritons was produced by Taddeo Landini. In 1874, during a restoration of the fountain, the original statues were moved to the Villa Borghese and replaced with copies.
