Hittorff's last work was the Gare du Nord (1861-1864), an iron-framed train shed with a fa\u00E7ade incorporating Greek columns and pediments together with wide arches; on this project he worked in close collaboration with company architects. Hittorff was an innovator, like the rationalists Henri Labrouste, Louis Duc and F\u00E9lix-Jacques Duban.
