figure
posted on 2017-07-03, 00:00 authored by G. Massiot & cie
Built in 1871 in Renaissance style. The General Insurance company (General for short) was founded in Trieste and grew throughout Europe in the last half of the 19th century. The building echoed the forms of the palaces of the great Florentine families, notably the buildings Medici Riccardi, Strozzi and Gondi, but with four floors instead of the traditional three. There are shops on the ground floor.
