The university in Dijon was historically located in two hôtels; the Hôtel Godran (formerly part of a college of Jesuits) and the Hôtel de l'Académie de Dijon, originally named the Hôtel Despringles. Today the Hôtel Despringles houses the Rectorate (Office of the Rector). The Hôtel was built between 1662-1675 for Guillaume Despringles, Clerk of the State of Burgundy (Etats de Bourgogne). It was acquired in 1773 by the Academy. The interior decor includes work by the sculptor Boichot.
