Church of the Savior of Lykodemos (Athens, Greece)

<p dir="ltr">The construction of the Church of the Savior of Lykodemos was started prior to 1031. The church was built in the Byzantine style of the time and is within the city of Athens. The building suffered damage from natural causes and wars over the years and in was restored in 1850. The restoration included a bell tower and remodeled interior. The church was purchased in 1847 by Tsar Alexander II of Russia to be used as a parish church for Russian community in Athens. As a result the renovations of the church gave it a more Russian look compared to its former Byzantine style. </p>
