Built as a family chapel by Raimondino Lupi, Marchese di Soragna in 1377. Like the Arena Chapel, which it recalls, it seems to have been planned specifically for an elaborate fresco cycle. The frescoes are in two registers: on the west wall are eight scenes from the Legend of St. Catherine and the Legend of St. Lucy; on the east are scenes from the Life of St. George and a votive fresco showing Raimondino de' Lupi's parents followed by all the Lupi knights, before the Virgin and Child enthroned. The north entrance wall contains an Annunciation and four scenes from the Infancy of Christ, while the altar wall is decorated with a Crucifixion surmounted by a Coronation of the Virgin. The tomb of Raimondino de' Lupi (died 1379) originally stood in the centre of the chapel.
