This article explores the significant yet often overlooked contributions of women printers throughout the history of the printing industry. Despite their vital roles since the industry's inception, many female printers remain under-researched and forgotten, often due to the absence of their names on printed works or their identification solely as spouses or successors of male master printers. The limited archival documentation further complicates efforts to fully recognize their achievements. Nevertheless, these women were established business professionals, thriving in a male-dominated field that required exceptional literacy and entrepreneurial skills. By managing printing businesses, they forged essential networks with authors, papermakers, booksellers, binders, and publishers. This research aims to resurface the names and highlight the the invaluable impact of these women on the printing industry and their contributions to broader cultural and economic contexts.
