Colombia is at the halfway point in implementing its 2016 peace accord, however, it is clear there are serious challenges in achieving the goals established to guarantee the rights of ethnic peoples in the peace process.
Lasting peace in Colombia requires understanding and addressing the different and disproportionate impacts of the armed conflict on ethnic peoples and communities. A new report from the Peace Accords Matrix (PAM), part of the Keough School of Global Affairs’ Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, outlines the limitations and weaknesses, as well as progress and successes, of implementing the Ethnic Approach’s commitments within the Colombian context.
