ERIE SAPLING Bangladesh Final Report (Qualitative Performance Evaluation)

<p dir="ltr">This performance evaluation explores the impact of Sustainable Agriculture and Production Linked</p><p dir="ltr">to Improved Nutrition Status, Resilience, and Gender Equity (SAPLING) in Bangladesh’s Chittagong</p><p dir="ltr">Hill Tracts (CHT). The evaluation leverages qualitative data from key informant interviews and focus</p><p dir="ltr">group discussions with farmers, small business owners, community leaders, service providers,</p><p dir="ltr">implementers, youth groups, and vulnerable populations. The evaluation offers context regarding the</p><p dir="ltr">impact of SAPLING in communities with comprehensive programming and provides</p><p dir="ltr">recommendations regarding the potential future of SAPLING activities. Findings from this evaluation</p><p dir="ltr">demonstrate that SAPLING improved access to nutritional food, increased income-generating</p><p dir="ltr">activities, strengthened community responses to disasters, and increased gender equity for some</p><p dir="ltr">individuals in the CHT.</p><p dir="ltr">Based on our sample of six villages, we find SAPLING has had much success with some areas for</p><p dir="ltr">improvement and recommendations for future efforts. Recommendations on improving future</p><p dir="ltr">interventions in the CHT and other vulnerable areas are made to address the limitations and</p><p dir="ltr">concerns regarding the sustainability of SAPLING’s activities.</p>
