The Pot of Gold Library Research and Information Literacy tutorial was designed to help students discover, assess, and use information in their coursework. It was built using PHP and JavaScript, and originally included Flash elements. The tutorial launched in the Fall of 2011 and was retired from the Web in July of 2020. An [archived version of the tutorial](https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://potofgold.library.nd.edu/) is available through the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. The Pot of Gold tuorial is succeeded by the [Information Literacy tutorial](http://libguides.library.nd.edu/information-literacy). The tutorial content was based on the [Begin Your Research tutorial](https://web.archive.org/web/20170830005738/http://www.lib.uci.edu/sites/all/tutorials/BeginResearch/public/) by UC Irvine Libraries' Department of Education and Outreach and the [TIP information literacy tutorial](http://tip.uwyo.edu/) by University of Wyoming. Quizzes are a modification of [jQuery Create-a-Quiz](https://codepen.io/cmcg/pen/dlxvu) by Colin McGraw. There are two versions of the tutorial source code: PotOfGold\_v1.zip is the original version of the tutorial, which requires Flash, and PotOfGold\_v2.zip is a later version of the tutorial with updated styles and no Flash elements. Please see the README.txt file for more details.
