Cities are composed of blocks, streets, and squares. Each of these elements, to be successful, must be built on a human scale, with an understanding of the historical planning, and contain central portions that are primarily mixed use. Marketplaces within the city can apply the same principles of scale and character with a mix of uses to create an integrated urbanity. This combination of commerce on a range of scales, workplaces, and residential occupation will improve local economy by enlivening space and connecting individuals from all walks of society.
