Suburban sprawl prioritizes automobility, private space, and excessive individualism that deprives cities of a vibrant, public realm conducive to human flourishing. To remedy its adverse effects, urban typologies of streets, squares, and blocks can be introduced to compose a walkable, multi-purpose context for residing, working, leisure, and worship at a decidedly human scale. Additionally, regionally appropriate architectural expressions endow vernacular buildings with a recognizable sense of place and belonging while the deployment of classical expressions on public buildings elevates a city and its people towards beauty, goodness, and truth.
