As the urgent demand for elderly care housing continues to grow, facility designs must respond to this need, while also providing access to shared amenities and improved connectivity to local communities. Current mainstream models of senior living facilities fail to provide their residents with an environment that supports their wellbeing through access to necessary amenities, nature, and spaces which encourage social engagement. The design of these facilities must begin to reduce the isolation experienced by our aging population by focusing on both internal and external connections to centralized gathering spaces.
