In this thesis, I analyze Book 9 and Book 10 of the Odyssey through a posthumanist lens. I argue that, in contrast to the rigid hierarchy suggested by colonial readings of the narrative, the animal/man dichotomy is presented as imprecise and blurred. By acknowledging these ambiguities, I suggest that the poem repeatedly presents similarities between Odysseus and those he encounters rather than stark dichotomies.
