- Abstract:
There are a wide range of opportunities for and approaches to developing and customizing data visualization support services in academic libraries; however, practitioners interested in exploring current approaches are constrained by the lack of a mature body of literature to consult for inspiration, caution, and best practices. This chapter presents a case study of the implementation of a data visualization space and revised data visualization services in an academic library-based digital sch…

- Abstract:
Lead exposure is a major health hazard affecting children and their growth and is a concern in many urban areas around the world. One such city in the United States (US), South Bend Indiana, gained attention for its high levels of lead in blood and relatively low testing rates for children. Lead screening rates ranged from 4…

- Abstract:
Lead exposure in SJC continues to be a persistent, complex public health issue. Data released in December 2016 showed that census tract 6 in South Bend had the highest rates of EBLL in the state of Indiana. Understanding what the epidemiologic profile of lead in SJC was among the first steps taken to address this issue. The St. Joseph Coun…

Such projects are often designed to promote positive change in particular areas of the community. Here we report on a two-year old community-based research project through the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Digital Scholarship and Center for Social Concerns. Working with the…
