    Abstract:

Since the publication of the “FAIR Guiding Principles for scientific data management and stewardship” (Wilkinson et al., 2016), a wide-variety of sciences, mathematics, and other data-intensive fields have utilized the principles to promote reusability of data and ensure the long-term preservation of valuable outputs. In particular, domain experts and leading researchers have organized hackathons and sprints to define FAIR for their specific domains. Similarly, these domain experts have creat…

    Abstract:

As climate changes, coastal homeowners are potentially crucial actors in reducing the risks to property and human life from rising seas and increased hurricane activity. Absent strict, enforceable regulations mandating retrofitting of existing homes or major changes in homeowner insurance requirements, coastal resilience in a changing climate will largely reflect private, voluntary decisions of millions of individuals. Does your bookmark file look like a junk drawer from the kitchen or garage? Are you still storing 17 drafts of that paper you completed, turned in, edited, resubmitted and received a final grade on years ago because you don’t remember which paper-final-final-final.doc is the actual final copy?

If yes is the answer to any of these questio…

This presentation will help students in all fields plan their strategy to and manage their research while traveling abroad. It introduces students to faculty in the Hesburgh Libraries who are able to provide consultations on data and research management consultations, and addresses how students should think about their data backups (and more backups) and what they need to consider when returning to the home institution.
