    Thermal rectification is an exotic thermal transport phenomenon which allows heat to transfer in one direction but block the other. We demonstrate an unusual dual-mode solid-state thermal rectification effect using a heterogeneous “irradiated-pristine” polyethylene nanofiber junction as a nanoscale thermal diode, in which heat flow can be rectified in both directions by changing the working temperature.     In this paper, we present results demonstrating the effect of temperature on singular- ity matching (SM) tunneling down to 300 mK in superconducting single-electron transistors (SSETs). The studied SSETs have charging energies significantly larger than the Josephson energy, which makes it possible to study the SM condition with- out other sub-superconducting gap conduction mechanisms obscuring the SM signa- tures at low biases.
