Study of the structural barriers to new Latino immigrants' use of banks and the financial system, Covers innovative ways to provide documentation for loans through Mexican consular identification cards and individual taxpayer identification numbers, and remittances to Mexico. Uses Chicago-Area Latino Survey, Pew Hispanic and U.S. Census data. Finds an increase in use of financial institutions within the first generation over time. Produced in partnership with the Metro Chicago Information Center (MCIC).
